Our WSEMA board has been busy this spring behind the scenes building partnerships and spreading information on the importance of emergency management around the state!
In the last few months WSEMA board members have arranged Congressional Meet & Greets across the state. Members have met with Congresswoman Randall, Congressman Baumgartner, and Congresswoman Strickland, with more members only opportunities planned for this summer.
WSEMA has also been developing partnerships with the Association of Washington Cities and the Association of Washington Counties! Our very own President, Alysha Kaplan, was highlighted in WSAC’s April “Voices of Impact” article celebrating County Governments. Alysha shared the value in WSEMA membership as having a voice that is amplified by our nearly 250 members across the state and praised her fellow board members when asked about her favorite part of being president. “They [the WSEMA Board] work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything on track for our members, and their dedication inspires me every day!”
WSEMA has also been meeting with board members from the Oregon State Emergency Management Association, creating opportunities to learn from each other and create best practices! As well as the American Public Works Association, where Alysha presented as the WSEMA President alongside Jon Holmes, Public Assistance Program Director for EMD, at their bi-annual conference on the critical role public works plays in disaster recovery!
WSEMA continues to be all about connection and building networks, a goal emphasized by our historic membership levels. We are only 7 members away from being 250 members strong! To all of our members, your Board is working tirelessly behind the scenes every day to keep our association growing and going strong! Thank you to everyone who has invested in this association, and we can’t wait to see where we go next in 2025!
