WSEMA Friday Update – October 10, 2025

  • WSEMA Conference Experience Jim House posted a blog update for the Washington Statewide Independent Living Council about his time at the WSEMA conference this year. A New Mission for WSEMA
  • Treasurer: Don’t forget to submit your letter of interest if you’d like to serve as Treasurer this year.

If interested, please submit a letter (no more than one page) by October 17th to president@wsema.orgoutlining your interest and any relevant experience or skills that would support you in carrying out the Treasurer’s duties. The WSEMA Board will review submissions and vote on the appointment at our October 27th board meeting.

Emergency Management in Washington

  • Healthcare Catastrophic Incident Workshop WA Department of Health is hosting an all-day Healthcare Catastrophic Incident Workshop, November 6th in Leavenworth, aiming to strengthen collaboration among healthcare partners, increase awareness of roles and responsibilities in responding to catastrophic healthcare incidents, and enhance preparedness for managing patient movement and care coordination during complex, large-scale emergencies. DOH has extended the invitation to Emergency Managers. 

Please register by Friday, October 31st, to confirm your participation. If you are unable to attend the in-person workshop, a virtual option will be available on Teams.

  • Public Assistance/Preliminary Damage Assessment Training: Don’t miss the chance to sign up for the 2025 Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) Training. The training is designed to help jurisdictions strengthen disaster readiness by improving how damages, costs, and impacts are captured and documented for federal disaster declaration requests.

  • 2026 Pacific Northwest SAR Conference The inaugural Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue Conference will take place Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, 2026 in Pierce County. 

Registration includes meals, shared camp-style lodging, and full access to all sessions and activities. Pre-registration is now open at www.pnwsarconference.com/registration. Those who pre-register will receive first access to full registration in January 2026 and an opportunity to help shape the conference schedule by sharing input on course topics.
