WSEMA Weekly Update – January 2, 2026

Happy Friday and Happy New Year, WSEMA friends!

At least I think it’s Friday. Between the holiday hangover and flood response, if you asked me what day it was without looking at a calendar, I’d say Monwediday. Time has been a little slippery these last few weeks. Thank you for your patience as this update lands later than usual, and more importantly, thank you to those of you who are still in response or recovery mode supporting your communities. I’ll keep saying it, your work matters.

As we enter the new year, I want to acknowledge both the weight many of you are carrying and the strength you continue to bring to this work. I hope that WSEMA and its members continue to show up for one another with practical support, shared learning, and space for both the hard days and the hopeful ones.

I’m holding a lot of respect for the reality many of you are in right now, alongside optimism for the year ahead. Until time makes sense again, take care of yourselves and each other.

P.S. If you haven’t had a chance yet and are able, please take a moment to renew your WSEMA membership. And for those of you still deep in response or recovery efforts, no stress at all. You’ve got grace on timing and we’ll meet you where you are.
