Hi Everyone,Just wanted to push out a quick update before the holiday! 
First, We are excited to announce dates and locations for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 conferences!

September 22-25, 2025 at the Northern Quest Resort  in Airway Heights, WA

September 21-24, 2026 at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, WA

September 20-23, 2027 at the Wenatchee Convention Center in Wenatchee, WA

The Muckleshoot Resort is a brand new, large-scale facility and by 2027, the Wenatchee Convention Center and Coast Hotel will have wrapped up complete renovations so it will feel like a brand new facility! We are excited to try some new venues for our conference. 


Second, I wanted to let you know about an upcoming webinar:

The Webinar Join us for an in-depth analysis of the East Palestine train derailment, as we examine the immediate response and key moments that defined this critical incident in February 2023. Mark Durno, On-Scene Coordinator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will walk us through the critical actions taken during the first hours and days following the derailment and how these decisions shaped both long-term recovery and communication efforts.

Third, IAEM is putting together a cohort of individuals interested in pursuing certification with the IAEM Certified Emergency Manager Program. This opportunity is available to AEM and CEM applicants. Selected individuals will have their certification and preparatory course fees waived! Please carefully review the qualifications outlined below before submitting your notice of interest.

  1. Open to individuals who have not yet submitted the certification application, taken the certification exam or submitted the application fee;
  2. Interested applicants MUST be employed full- or part-time as emergency managers in one of the following jurisdictions:
    • City/county
    • Other local government entity
    • state/territory
    • tribal or
  • Be a student able to demonstrate an interest in a career in state, local, tribal, or territorial Emergency Management

Candidates must commit to completing the application by February 28, 2025, and the exam by May 15, 2025. More information is available on the IAEM website. The deadline to submit your application is December 13, 2024
